Briefings and Tours

OAS briefings are offered to diplomats, government officials, military officers, university faculty, policy analysts and students, as well as to the general public. The briefings are given by the Director of the Department of External Relations, Irene Klinger, and senior specialists from the various departments of the organization. Briefings are tailored to the specific interests of the visiting groups, covering political, social, legal and economic issues in the Americas as well as the work of the organization. These briefings include tours of the facilities and an historical overview of the organization. APRIL 27, 2007


 On April 27, 21 American University Graduate Students visited the OAS Historic Building. Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations, gave the group a tour and Jane Thery, Chief, Institutional Relations, gave a briefing on the OAS.       


APRIL 26, 2007


 

 On April 26 the Institutional Relations section of the Department of External Relations organized a tour for 12 undergraduate students from the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith Business School. Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations, gave the students a tour of the building and Jane Thery, Chief, Institutional Relations, gave an overview on the Organization.  


APRIL 24, 2007

On April 24, 20 members of the Senior Seminar Alumni Association were given a tour of the OAS Historic Building by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations. Ambassador Frank Almaguer, Under Secretary for Administration and Finance gave the group an OAS overview, and Elizabeth Abi-Mershed, Senior Specialist, Inter-American Commission of Human Rights, briefed on human rights issues of the Western Hemisphere. The group also visited the Art Museum of the Americas.


APRIL 20, 2007


 

On April 20, the Institutional Relations section of the Department of External Relations organized a tour for 32 students from North Warren High School. A tour of the Historic Building and OAS Overview was given by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations. Nelly Richardson, Specialist, Department of External Relations spoke to the group about the MOAS program.  


APRIL 17, 2007


 

On April 17, 25 Canadian Forces College members visited the OAS. A tour of the Historic Building was given by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations. Irene Klinger, Director, Department of External Relations, gave the group a briefing on the OAS. The group was also briefed by Alexandre Addor-Neto, Under Secretary, Executive Secretariat for Multidimensional Security; Dr. Carol Fuller, Secretary, Inter-American Commission Against Terrorism; and Christopher Hernandez-Roy, Director, Department for the Prevention of Threats against Public Security


APRIL 12, 2007

On April 12, the Institutional Relations section of the Department of External Relations organized a tour of the OAS Historic Main Building for participants of the IMF/OAS/World Bank walking tour. Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations led the tour and also briefed the group.

 


APRIL 11, 2007


 

On April 11, 12 University of Chile students received a tour of the OAS Historic Main Building with Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations. The group was briefed by Irene Klinger, Director, Department of External Relations and John Wilson, Legal Advisor, Department of International Legal Affairs. The group also visited the Art Museum of the Americas.  

 


APRIL 5, 2007

On April 5, 20 students from the College of William and Mary received a tour of the OAS Historic Main Building by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations and an OAS Overview by Jane Thery, Chief, Institutional Relations of the Department of External Relations.

 


APRIL 4, 2007

On April 4, 18 judges, lawyers, and legal officials from the Western Hemisphere sponsored by Meridian International with their program entitled: Administration of Justice and the Rule of Law’ requested a visit to the OAS. A tour of the Main Building was given by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations. An OAS Overview was given by Irene Klinger, Director, Department of External Relations. A specialized briefing on Human Rights was given by Veronica Gomez, Specialist, Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, and Jean Michele Arrighi, Director, Department of International Legal Affairs gave an overview on the work of his department.
