military officers, university faculty, policy analysts
and students, as well as to the general public. The briefings
are given by the Director of the Department of External
Relations, Irene Klinger, and senior specialists from
the various departments of the organization. Briefings
are tailored to the specific interests of the visiting
groups, covering political, social, legal and economic
issues in the Americas as well as the work of the organization.

received a Historic Tour of the Main Building from Aline

the Dominican Republic to the OAS, spoke about the
Dominican Republic’s mission to the OAS and priority

Analysis & Resolution at George Mason University visited
the OAS Headquarters. The group received an OAS tour

On
August 6, a group of students from the Universidad del
Desarrollo de Chile visited the headquarters of the
Organization of American States. The group was welcomed
by Gina Ochoa, Specialist of the Department of External
Relations, who also presented an overview of the
historic building and its architectural details. The OAS
Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza, had a short
meeting with the group, in which he explained the work
of the OAS. Irene Klinger, Director of the Department of
External Relations, opened the briefing session that was
followed by expositions from three specialists of the
technical areas of the OAS: Raúl Alconada, from the
Subsecretariat of Political Affairs, Mario López-Garelli
from the Inter-American Commission on Humans Rights and
Abraham Stein form the Subsecretariat of
Multidimensional Security. The group also participated
in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding
on Technical Cooperation for Caribbean nations between
the OAS and Chile.

Universidad Comillas in Spain attending a program in
conjunction with Georgetown University visited the OAS
historic headquarters. The students were received by The
Permanent Observer Representative of Spain to the OAS,
Ambassador Juan Manuel Romero de Terreros Castilla. They
toured the OAS main building with Aline Hommes,
Specialist, Department of External Relations and
received an OAS overview from the director of the
Department of External Relations, Irene Klinger.

the “Centro de Altos Estudios Estratégicos” of El
Salvador visited the OAS historic headquarters.
Ambassador Castro de Perez, Permanent Representative of
the Mission of El Salvador to the OAS greeted the group
and spoke about the work of the Mission of El Salvador
at the OAS. The group also received a tour from Aline
Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations and
a briefing on the OAS from the director of the
Department of External Relations, Irene Klinger.

visited the OAS historic headquarters. The group
