briefings are offered to diplomats, government officials,
military officers, university faculty, policy analysts
and students, as well as to the general public. The briefings
are given by the Director of the Department of External
Relations, Irene Klinger, and senior specialists from
the various departments of the organization. Briefings
are tailored to the specific interests of the visiting
groups, covering political, social, legal and economic
issues in the Americas as well as the work of the organization.
These briefings include tours of the facilities and an

On June 29, 34 participants of the Foreign Service
Institute visited the OAS Historic Headquarters. The
group received a tour by Aline Hommes, Specialist,
Department of External Relations, and a briefing on the
OAS from Chief of Institutional Relations, Jane Thery.
JUNE 28, 2007
On June 28, 89 OAS interns received a tour of the
building from Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of
External Relations, and a briefing and welcome by Jane
Thery, Chief, Institutional Relations, Department of
External Relations. The program also included a walk
through the underground painted tunnel with the theme
"Roots of Peace" by Uruguayan Artist Carlos Páez
Vilaró. At the Administrative building, the interns
received a briefing by Beverly Wharton Lake, Director
and Stella Villagran, Reference Library at the Columbus
Memorial Library.

On June 27, 24 parliamentary representatives from the
Fullbright Commission of Argentina in conjunction with
the University of Delaware and the Center for
International Studies visited the OAS historical
headquarters. The group received a tour by Aline Hommes,
Specialist, Department of External Relations and a
briefing by the OAS Chief of Institutional Relations,
Jane Thery.

On June 22, 12 students from George Mason University
visited the OAS Historic headquarters. The group
received a tour and briefing on the OAS from Aline
Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations.
JUNE 20, 2007
On June 20, 95 military personnel from the National War
College of Brazil visited the OAS historic headquarters.
The group of 95 military personnel divided into three
groups and received a tour of the OAS Main Building
headquarters from Aline Hommes, Lincoln Bernardes, and
Luis Coimbra.
JUNE 18, 2007
On June 18, 40 students from the U.S. Institute of Peace
visited the OAS. The students were winners from 1,000
participants who submitted their work for a national
essay contest on the topic: "Reintegrating Children,
Building Peace: Interaction, Education and
Participation." The group was given a tour of the OAS
historic headquarters by Specialist, Department of
External Relations, Aline Hommes, and a briefing on the
OAS from Jane Thery, Chief, Institutional Relations.
Nelly Robinson, Program Coordinator for MOAS briefed the
students on the OAS Model Assembly.

On June 14, Ambassador Maria Tamayo with several
students from her class on Latin America at American
University received a tour of the OAS Main Building with
Aline Hommes, Specialist, and an overview of the
Organization by Jane Thery, Chief, Institutional
Relations, Department of External Relations.
