briefings are offered to diplomats, government officials,
military officers, university faculty, policy analysts
and students, as well as to the general public. The briefings
are given by the Director of the Department of External
Relations, Irene Klinger, and senior specialists from
the various departments of the organization. Briefings
are tailored to the specific interests of the visiting
groups, covering political, social, legal and economic
issues in the Americas as well as the work of the organization.
These briefings include tours of the facilities and an

On May 24, 13 high school students from the Barrie
School received a tour of the Main Building and a
briefing on the Organization by Aline Hommes,
Specialist, Department of External Relations.

On May 23, a visit by 58 students from the Universidad
del Valle de México was organized
and included a tour of the OAS Main Building with Aline
Hommes, Specialist, Department of External Relations and
an OAS overview by Jane Thery, Chief, Institutional
Relations.

On May 23, six U.S. and Brazilian Chief of Staff Air
Force wives received a tour of the OAS Historical
Building and an overview on the Organization. Their
visit included a tour of the Art Museum of the Americas
by Maria Leyva, Curator of Collections, Art Museum of
the Americas.

On May 22, 15 wives of military personnel from Ecuador
were given a tour of the Historic Main Building and an
OAS briefing by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of
External Relations. They also received a tour of the Art
Museum of the Americas.

On May 17, 12 students from the Washington Center for
Internships visited the OAS Historic Building. They were
given a tour by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of

On May 17, 37 senior military officials from the Mexican
Navy War College received a tour of the OAS Historical
Building and a briefing on multidimensional security by
Abraham Stein, Deputy Executive Secretary, Secretariat
for Multidimensional Security.

On May 16, 23 students from Saltilo, Mexico with the
Washington Workshop visited the OAS. The students
received a tour of the OAS Historical Building and an
OAS briefing by Aline Hommes, Specialist, Department of
External Relations.

On May 10, the IMF, OAS, and World Bank Walking Tour
consisting of 19 participants received a tour of the OAS
Historic Building and an OAS overview by Aline Hommes,
Specialist, Department of External Relations. The visit
also included a walk through the underground painted
tunnel with the theme “Roots of Peace” by Uruguayan
Artist Carlos Páez Vilaró.

On May 4, 8 members of the Foreign
Service Institute visited the OAS Historic Building.
They were given a tour by Aline Hommes, Specialist,
Department of External Relations. Jane Thery, Chief,
Institutional Relations, gave an overview on the
organization.

On May 3, the Institutional
Relations section of the Department of External
Relations organized a tour and briefing for 17 military
officers from The Marine Corps War College University.
The officers were given a tour by Aline Hommes,
Specialist, Department of External Relations. Irene
Klinger, Director, Department of External Relations gave
an overview on the Organization. Santiago Canton,
Executive Secretary, Inter-American Commission of Human
Rights briefed the group on Protecting Human Rights in
the Hemisphere, and Dr. Carol S. Fuller, Secretary,
Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee against
Terrorism (CICTE) briefed on Security Challenges in the
Western Hemisphere.
