Institutional and Host Country Relations

The Department of International Affairs (DIA) is charged with maintaining relations with the Host Country, Permanent Observers, Institutions, Civil Society, and Outreach to the common at large. and Institutional relations and relations with the Host Country in order to generate greater international awareness and understanding among diverse audiences of the role and work of the Organization. To this end, it has developed a wide range of joint programs with Member States, non-member states, NGOs, development cooperation agencies and academia, among others. This includes:

        ● Coordinating relations with the 60 Permanent Observers to the OAS;

        ● Coordinating relations with Civil Society to the OAS;

        ● Maintaining relations with regional institutions and multilateral agencies;

        ● Promotes relations with legislative and executive bodies of the host country

        ● Supporting the Organization's efforts in its fundraising efforts;

        ● Implementing the monthly Lecture Series of the Americas;

        ● Arranging the OAS Policy Roundtable series on key issues of the Inter-American agenda;

        ● Hosting local and international Model OAS Assemblies for schools and universities;

        ● Maintaining the OAS Kid's Cyber Page; and

        ● Organizing special events and projects with a broad and multifaceted public

        ● Organizing briefings to various audiences interested in the OAS

        ● Promoting youth-related activities
